Report on the Queer Art Madrid exhibition

From 5 to 28 February 2025, the Maruja Mallo Exhibition Hall in Madrid hosted the QUEER ART MADRID exhibition, organised by the QUEER MEDIA association with the support of the Retiro District Board. The event became a key platform for dialogue about queer art, its relevance and its impact on society, drawing a diverse and engaged audience.

The exhibition presented more than 40 works by 9 artists whose creations explore identity, freedom, personal searching and social transformation:

– Bruno Riviera & GM

– Iván Vidal

– Darya Yartseva

– Georgy Golosov

Beyond the general public and art lovers, the exhibition was attended by curators, politicians, activists, patrons, media representatives and celebrities, reflecting the growing interest in queer art within today’s cultural scene.

Exhibition results

– More than 5,000 visitors during the exhibition period

– More than 20 media publications covering the show and its artists

– Social media growth — the exhibition’s Instagram account @queerartspain gained roughly 1,000 new followers and was mentioned more than 200 times in posts and stories

– A growing artistic community — around 10 new artists applied to join the QUEER MEDIA association

QUEER ART MADRID reaffirmed the importance and relevance of queer art in today’s cultural landscape. The QUEER MEDIA association remains committed to creating new initiatives to support and give visibility to queer artists.
