New perspectives at Queer Art: explore the selection following October’s Open Call

An Open Call does not end when the application form closes. Some of the most interesting work comes next: getting to know the submissions, bringing different practices into conversation and creating a place where they can reach new audiences. Following October’s Open Call, Queer Art, QUEER MEDIA’s visual arts project, is introducing a new selection of artists to its online gallery.

You can now discover their profiles and explore their work at queerart.es. Take your time: get to know an unfamiliar practice, follow the thread of a series and encounter different ways of thinking about identity, the body, intimacy and community.

From Open Call to online gallery

The call ran from 1 to 31 October 2026. Queer Art’s selection process considers each submission in context: the strength of the work, the clarity of the artist’s practice and what their perspective can contribute to the wider conversation across the gallery. Following review, publication on the portal gives visitors a chance to get to know an artist beyond a single image.

Our association wants that visibility to last. Publishing a work is a beginning: we aim to create connections between people who make art, people who enjoy it and those who want to support or collect queer practices.

Three ways to explore

  • Start with the artists. Visit Our Artists, open a profile and explore several works by the same person. Seeing a practice as a whole can reveal the questions and visual language running through it.
  • Let the homepage surprise you. The homepage offers a selection of works from the collection: an accessible starting point if you would rather discover than search.
  • Go beyond the first image. Open the artwork pages that catch your attention, read the available information and continue to other works by the artist. If you are considering a purchase, check the conditions and options on the individual artwork page.

Supporting art can begin with sharing it

You do not need to start a collection to be part of the project. Sharing an artwork link with its creator’s name, recommending an artist profile or introducing someone to the gallery can help these practices find new audiences. When you choose to acquire a piece through the portal, you can also support its creator’s work directly.

For QUEER MEDIA, this selection is part of an ongoing commitment: building spaces where queer culture can be encountered with context, diversity and a voice of its own. Thank you to everyone who submitted their work, and to the people who support the association by helping its projects reach others.
