We are pleased to announce that QUEER MEDIA has been accepted as an official member of ILGA World and ILGA-Europe, two of the leading international organisations promoting and defending the rights of LGBTQIA+ people around the world. This membership marks an important step in our commitment to supporting and giving visibility to the queer community, expanding our networks and strengthening our capacity for advocacy.
Who are ILGA World and ILGA-Europe?
ILGA World (the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association) is a global organisation founded in 1978 that brings together more than 1,600 organisations from 150 countries. Its mission is to fight for the human rights and equality of LGBTQIA+ people worldwide, working on many fronts — from advocacy at international bodies to awareness-raising and education at the local level.
ILGA-Europe, in turn, is the regional branch of ILGA World focused on advancing LGBTQIA+ rights in Europe and Central Asia. Founded in 1996, ILGA-Europe works with more than 600 organisations across the region, supporting inclusive policy-making and working to eradicate discrimination and violence against the LGBTQIA+ community.
What membership brings
Being part of these two prestigious organisations gives QUEER MEDIA a series of advantages, including:
- Access to a global network: we connect with organisations that share our values and vision, exchanging experience and collaborating on joint projects.
- Training and resources: we gain access to training materials, studies, reports and other resources that enrich our work and keep us at the forefront of LGBTQIA+ advocacy.
- Representation and visibility: as members of ILGA World and ILGA-Europe, we join a collective voice standing for equality and diversity at the global and regional level.
We are confident this membership will strengthen our capacities and help QUEER MEDIA keep growing as a platform that supports and amplifies queer voices.
This is just the beginning of an exciting chapter of collaboration and learning for the whole QUEER MEDIA community!
